The frazzled english woman aesthetic
Whilst it isn’t a true Christmas film, there’s something festive and cosy about Bridget Jones (2001) and its sequel.
The film, in my opinion, is the blueprint for the ‘frazzled ‘Englishwoman’ aesthetic. She’s messy, funny and has an undeniably chic but ugly collection of scarfs.
As with a lot of aesthetics and styles, this is more a mindset than simply a wardrobe and encompasses a love of red wine, books and a house or flat that is both country and contemporary.
Bridget is the blueprint: you type frazzled Englishwoman aesthetic into Pinterest and she’s the first image to pop up.
The palette is muted and the style features a lot of knitwear in various forms. Faded denim, black dresses and long, slightly masculine coats are a staple.
The style is very reminiscent of the 00s, with icons such as young Kiera Knightley, Bridget Jones and Kate Winslet in ‘the holiday’.
